One of the first adventures of the summer was a trip to Island Park with the Proctor Family. We weren't able to stay as long as last year, but we still enjoyed being all together and had a really great time. We joked that it really wouldn't feel like too much of a vacation this year seeing how we almost all live within 3 blocks of each other and we get to spend a lot of time together on a regular basis, but there is something nice about getting away from home and trying different activities that we wouldn't be able to usually do. While at the cabin we walked around Big Springs and took a tour of the Johnny Sack's cabin, went Geocaching and found some cool treasures, roasted marshmallows and hotdogs over the fire, saw the beautiful mesa falls, gained 5 lbs eating all the good food that others made (and William didn't even throw up the Sandwich this year! Although poor Vonda got the flu and unfortunately took on that role), painted and tie-dyed t-shirts, rented rafts and floated the river where we saw an eagle and a moose and where the kids enjoyed racing the boats, went to the playmill theater and watched Beauty and the Beast (so cute---although we missed out on shaking all of the actors hands), played golf and bocci ball, went four-wheeling and laughed when Landon told his mom that he thinks they should buy one, celebrated Matthew's first birthday, launched a rocket, went to the Island Park ward where Laura saw a guy so cute she fainted (ok, not really why), enjoyed the hot tub, and of course we did a little bit of fishing (without much success unfortunately). The weather wasn't the best, but the memories that we were able to make all being together made up for it all. Here are a select few photos from the trip. I took a lot of video on my camera on the trip, which I cannot find anywhere. I feel just sick about it, I must have deleted it somehow when I was sorting through my photos--luckily I still have some photos left, but I will be much more careful next time about saving my files correctly. I also have several more photos from the trip is anyone (who went) wants them :)
Isaac didn't think that the trip was long enough, so we look forward to going back later this summer and trying some of the tricks that Andrew shared with us on how to catch big fish.
Oh, I love all the pictures! Thanks for sharing. I was going to tell you which are my favorites, but I can't even decide. It looks like you had a blast. It isn't even my family, but I wish I could have been there with you. I miss you tons. If I do come to the states we HAVE to find a way to see each other.
Wow! Great shots of a great time together. We're so glad your family can enjoy the cabin. We are looking forward to staying there ourselves later this summer--too bad you won't be able to join us.
