Borsch....Celebrating Russia
The Russian people hold a special place in my heart. Last night, Taniel and I made borsch together. It was absolutely delicious! It sounds gross because it includes Dwight Schrute's favorite vegetable: the beet. Beets are red, grow like potatoes, and smell a lot like dirt. Taniel had never seen a one cut up before.
After slicing and dicing a million vegetables it was finally ready to eat. Taniel thought it was the prettiest soup she had ever seen because the beets dye the rest of the vegetables red. We got out the smetana (sour cream), bread and shapkas. With the music of Tchaikovsky in the background we began our feast.
Thank you Russia for introducing us to borsch!

yum, I want some. Bring on the international dinner.
It DOES look pretty, but beets??? I'm not sure. I'm not a big fan. However, I do believe that anything is going to taste better while wearing shapkas and listening to Tchaikovsky. You guys are great! (And, Isaac, I am willing to give it a try if you ever want to make it for me.)

Anything tastes better when wearing a shapka! I need to get me one of those!
