Two Days on the Slopes

One of the perks of Isaac's job is that he is able to get free lift tickets to Sundance. We have had so much fun during the summer mountain biking, and now that winter is here we are able to enjoy the mountains in a new way, with SNOW! We were able to get tickets for the 30th of December and we took Martha and Jared with us. It had just dumped snow the night before, making it an ideal day to be on the mountain. It was Martha's first time skiing, and she did great. She was nervous and crashed a few times her first trip down, ( it didn't help that she was using my skis and boots which were not her size), but by her second time she made it the whole way down the hill without falling. Jared had only been a few times before, but you would never know, as he looked like he had been doing it his whole life. He got to wear his new hat that he got for Christmas, and when combined with his bandanna to keep his face warm he may have scared a few kids as he flew down the hill. Isaac received lots of compliments on his Shopka, which kept his head so warm he claims he was sweating. We decided he looked like he had dog ears and loved how easy it was to find him on the hill. I decided to try snowboarding so that I could learn with Martha and had a great time, but don't think that I am ready to switch quite yet. I took several hard falls and woke up the next morning aching all over--Thank goodness I have a helmet.

Isaac and I decided to go one more time before school and work started again, and spent Monday skiing together. The sky was blue, the sun was shining and it was absolutely beautiful. There was no fresh powder, but the snow wasn't bad and it was nice to go when it wasn't crowded. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go again.

Wow! Beautiful pictures! It looks like a couple of great days to be skiing. Nice work on attempting snowboarding -- I have pretty much given that up and decided that I am a snowboarding failure. :-) Also, I love Isaac's hat. I forgot what it was called, but I want one. I wonder if John can get them in the Baltic States?

I'm jealous, I want to go! It looks like you guys had fun, and I can't believe you talked Martha into going!

So glad your mother taught you to wear a helmet when a head injury is imminent. That hat of Isaac's could probably serve as a helmet it is so padded. I LOVE it! Hope we can hit the slopes together next winter!
