One of the best things about having a birthday on the fourth of July is that the entire country celebrates with you. Naturally, I have come to love almost anything associated with patriotism, fireworks, red white and blue, and tacky 4th decorations, as it brings back wonderful memories of my past birthdays. This year, Isaac took me to an outdoor Utah Symphony concert at Deer Valley as a birthday gift. It was wonderful. Everyone there just lays out their blankets and picnics as the kids run around the lawn while the symphony plays wonderful music against the backdrop of park city. The symphony played a lot of traditional American music including some Sousa marches, take me out to the ball game, and then some other non-American artist, who have come to be associated with American patriotism through movies, plays, and other means (such as Dvorak). We had picked up some Cafe Rio on the way to the concert and had a perfect dinner to go with a perfect concert. There was even a double fly-over, which was clearly Isaac's favorite part, and a gorgeous sunset to end the day off. to make the day even better than it was, there fireworks booming all around us as we drove home from each town celebrating and it felt like our own private firework show. Great Birthday!
