This last weekend, Isaac and I had the opportunity to drive to Springfield and visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. It was really amazing.
After his assassination, Lincoln evolved into something of a legend, and over time it has become harder and harder to separate the facts from the vision of this man that we have created in our minds. The exhibits in this museum in Springfield focus on this idea and creates for its patrons a more detailed and comprehensive view of the man behind the photos. There was also a special exhibit called "Team of Rivals" based on the book by Doris Goodwin about Lincoln's cabinet which was also fascinating. Photos weren't allowed inside the exhibits, so I lugged my big camera around for no reason, but there are so many places around Illinois that have a correlation with Lincoln that I am sure that I will have more opportunities in the future to take photos. OR....better yet, you could just come and visit and we will take you to the museum, it is worth your time, I promise!
