UPDATE

Feast or famine. Like many things in life, that is a good description of how often this blog is updated. Quite frankly, this blog has been suffering through a long famine, a famine which is near its end. The rains are coming--but first, an update on our lives must be given, which unfortunately, is free of photos.

November passed quite quickly. Isaac breathed a sigh of relief when his break from school finally arrived. He had a full week off to relax, although as with all vacations that fall in the middle of a semester, there is always that nagging feeling of guilt over relaxing when you could be studying, so he did work on some homework which will hopefully ease the stress of his last few weeks of classes. I was given Thursday AND Friday off of work which I couldn't be more thrilled about. Who doesn't love a four day weekend?

We spent Friday night prior to Isaac's break camped in a cheap hotel in St. Louis so we could attend the temple on Saturday. Our hotel neighbors down the hall threw a party then got in a rather loud and scary fight, causing the police to show up. We were still able to get enough sleep to stay awake through our temple session. We laughed later upon reading that St. Louis has the highest crime rate in the Country--I am glad that we didn't become another statistic.

We had hoped to spend some extra time in St. Louis following the temple visit, but had to leave early to return home in time for Stake Conference where we were able to listen to Elder Bednar speak. We left with full hearts and a strong desire to improve ourselves. It was seriously so wonderful to be in the presence of an Apostle of the Lord.

After hearing reports that KSL played up the so called "nude scene" in Harry Potter, we went and saw it after-all. It was so worth the $5.50 and we cannot wait until next summer to see the final movie.

We spent Thanksgiving at at the Broadbent's home. They are a wonderful family in our ward who invited us over for dinner. We enjoyed the good food and conversation with everyone there including their many birds who can all speak quite well. We have so much to be thankful for. Since leftovers were slim after dividing up the food between 5 families, we bought our own turkey to eat this week for "Second Thanksgiving" or "Fakesgiving" as Martha and Laura like to call it. We can't wait!

I caved and decided that it would be OK to have a fake Christmas tree this year. So we battled the crowds on Black Friday and found a cute six foot Colorado fir for a good deal which is now set up in our home waiting to be adorned.

During the break we were also able to take a drive through the farmland together, watch movies and several office episodes on netflix, go out to eat, and have a fun date night at the bowling alley. The score was 88 to 154 . I will let you decide which score belongs to whom.

Tonight we sit relishing in our last few hours of freedom, dreading our return to so called "real life." Isaac only has one and a half more weeks of classes, then a week of finals before he is set loose from the bonds of school for a month of homework-free vacation. Tomorrow I return to work to take on the many grumpy and irritated people who feel the need to yell at me on the phone and tell me what a horrible job I am doing and what a horrible person I am. Hooray. We do however have a lot to be thankful for are excited for the many wonderful things that this next month has in store. Until Then...cheers.
